More than 60 adults and 25 children gathered at Westcote Barton Church for Harvest Festival on 1st October. Middle Barton School Choir, led by Mrs Jane Tailby, were in good voice to sing several harvest songs, and the Bartons Benefice Choir also sang a harvest anthem.
Revd Graeme Arthur told us all about food in the Holy Land, including wheat, olives, grapes, figs, pomegranates and dates. Bible readings were clearly delivered by the village Cubs, who also helped by displaying the Holy Land foods to the congregation.
After church, 36 people shared a harvest lunch at the Alice Marshall Hall. Revd Arthur broke the Harvest Loaf before we all tucked into our lunch, and a convivial time was had by all.
This event raised £300 for the much-needed Alice Marshall Hall refurbishment, and the sale of harvest produce raised £100 for Katharine House Hospice. Grateful thanks to all who attended and contributed to the day's celebrations.
