Middle Barton's Festival of Light weekend is being held on 25/26/27th November and starts with a concert celebrating The Golden Era of Popular Song, featuring Tony Jacobs (www.tonyjacobs.net) and Jim Barry.
Tony Jacobs is one of our finest cabaret artists and entertainers (the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, and Friday Night is Music Night), and will be presenting a magical evening in the company of some of the greatest songwriters of all time - including George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart...
A master of the American Songbook, possessing a vocal quality reminiscent of the great singers of Bing Crosby and Sinatra, his passion for the music is self evident and it promises to be an evening filled not only with great music but stories, anecdotes and humour… he is not a bad trumpet player either!
Accompanying him is pianist Jim Barry who for many years was with the BBC radio Orchestra, and has supported stars as diverse as Harry Secombe, Vera Lynne and Dizzy Gillespie.
Tickets: £10 in advance or £12 on the door - includes a glass of wine.
Tickets are available at either Middle Barton stores, or via Kate Carter-Windle - kate.cw@btinternet.com. Ring 01869 349854 for more information.
