Changes are happening very quickly in regard to what we are now allowed to do following the gradual easing of lockdown measures. Unfortunately, things are unlikely to be straightforward in the weeks and months ahead but we are grateful that new steps can be taken towards a return to worship in our buildings.

Bishop Steven has issued a letter which says: “… every benefice will need to prepare carefully and there will be much to think through.  The detailed guidance from the government is still in preparation.  Updated guidance from the national church will need to follow.”

Once services resume in our churches there will be rules about distancing, numbers attending, singing, general movement, administering Communion, cleaning and so on.  We will keep everyone updated via the weekly notice sheets and here on the website.

The following is an overview of the current opening situation in our churches for private prayer:

(N.B. these decisions were taken before the announcement that Churches may resume public worship from 4 July, including weddings within strict parameters.)

Visitors to our churches are requested to observe all current recommendations, and to bring their own hand sanitiser.

Steeple Barton church will be open on Mondays and Fridays from 10am – 5pm, beginning on 13th July.

Over Worton church is not locked.

Nether Worton church is closed for building works.

Westcote Barton church welcomes those who wish to pray in church, but access is by prior arrangement with Kate Carter-Windle (07775 750903).

Sandford St Martin church remains closed for the time being.
